Purpose of the Job

 

Within the Global Medical Affairs Team, the Medical Director Gastroenterology Rare Disease has a business-critical role to drive the global Medical Affairs strategy and execute on the medical action plan in close partnership with the commercial and R&D parts of the organization, supporting linerixibat.

Your role

- Represent global medical affairs in the Global Brand Team, and be responsible for the development and execution of the medical strategy rare diseases

- Act as internal expert on linerixibat in gastroenterology rare disease. Provide scientific advice to colleagues accordingly (e.g. medical training, regulatory affairs, business development)

- Develop and advise on scientific content and strategy around products in development, pre-launch, launch and in market-related activities and materials

- Be the medical lead for international congresses, including medical education

- Lead medical advisory boards, and facilitate appropriate interpretation of insights and drive follow up of actions

- Execute on scientific communication and training including key materials and alignment with countries

- Demonstrate leadership in the process of data generation, interpretation and data display

- Support with data generation needs, such as medical review of investigator-initiated research proposals, real-world data, registries, clinical studies, post-hoc analyses, etc

- Bring unsolicited grants through the grant approval process

- Conduct and lead medical review and approval of materials

- Lead or participate in globally focused meetings as needed to support the launch and in-market success of Alfasigma products

- Lead specific scientific projects to further advance understanding of the benefit:risk of linerixibat

- Ensure the patient voice is embedded in activities from bench to bedside while working with the patient advocacy team

- Advance understanding of the therapeutic landscape to identify opportunities for scientific leadership to meet patient needs

- Align with the Head of the Global Medical Affairs Strategy Team to ensure that the execution of the medical activities are on track within the global brand strategy and within budget

- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance and Regulatory to ensure proper and ethical interactions both with internal and external stakeholders

- Ensure that developed materials and events are in compliance with with internal policies and external regulations

Qualifications

State the minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the job including Work Experience, Education, Competencies & specific Skills. These are the qualifications that are necessary for someone to be considered for the position.

Who are you

- A medical or scientific degree (Ph.D. or Pharm D) 

- 7-10 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry, and skilled in working in cross-functional matrix teams, including above country experience is required

- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in medical affairs in gastroenterology, including hepatology

- Experience in the field of rare diseases is preferred

- Experience in field-based roles (e.g. Field Medical Director, Medical Science Liaison)

- Experience in designing, planning, and executing on advisory boards, medical education at international symposia, internal medical communication as well as driving data generation and data display is required

- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with experts within gastroenterology

- Experience preparing global launches for products as well as launching a drug in country is strongly preferred

- A genuine interest to advance science and healthcare in these areas to ultimately meet patient’s needs

- Willingness to travel as needed for global collaboration
