Overview:

Alfasigma Consumer Healthcare (CHC), from its position of leadership on the Italian market, is committed to expanding its geographical presence and product portfolio in the CHC area.

In his/her role, the CHC R&D GI Science Associate will:

contribute to the innovation and scientific development of the gastrointestinal (GI) product portfolio,
lead projects independently, while operating within a highly collaborative and cross-functional environment.
be responsible for supporting product innovation, providing scientific insights, and ensuring scientific excellence throughout the product lifecycle—from concept to commercialization.

The CHC R&D Associate GI Science will report to the CHC R&D Head of GI Science and will work closely with the CHC Medical Expert and the Product Development team to identify new products and additionally with cross-functional teams, including Project Management, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, Marketing, and Sales.

The ideal candidate will possess strong collaborative and communication skills and can thrive in a fast-paced, growing organisation, and he/she will strongly contribute to the transformation of the Company into a global leader in the CHC area.

Key Responsibilities

Design, identify or assess new product opportunities in the GI area in collaboration with Global and Local Marketing, based on consumer, patient, and healthcare professional (HCP) insights.
Lead assigned global and local innovation projects, ensuring end-to-end scientific support and alignment with business objectives.
Define and assess key ingredients, mechanisms of action, and dosage/formulation approaches in line with brand positioning and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and present scientific content—including clinical and preclinical evidence—to internal stakeholders and decision-making committees.
Ensure that all innovation projects are rooted in strong science and supported by relevant evidence.
Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and Product Development to support dossier preparation (literature reviews, product monographs, clinical rationale, etc.).
Support business protection initiatives and contribute to the scientific evaluation of in-licensing and partnership opportunities in the GI space.
Stay up to date on scientific trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies in gastrointestinal health.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Life Sciences (e.g., Biology, Pharmacy, Biotechnology) required; Ph.D. preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in R&D or Innovation roles within the consumer healthcare, ideally in a global/regional context.
As a plus, solid scientific knowledge in Gastrointestinal therapeutic area
Proven ability to translate science into product concepts and consumer-relevant innovation.
Experience in the development and commercialization of consumer healthcare products.
Good knowledge of regulatory requirements (FS, MDR, Cosmetic, etc – OTC as a plus) of products associated with the therapeutic area in scope, as well as emerging trends, technologies, and best practices

Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

Good analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and evaluate opportunities (external or in-house)
Effective communication and presentation skills, and good command of the English language.
