But our journey is far from complete! In fact, this is just the beginning of a bold new chapter in Alfasigma's history. We are committed to advancing innovation and leveraging our deep expertise to provide better health and a better quality of life for patients and consumers worldwide and expand our reach across diverse markets.
Scope of the Job
DEM (Distributors and Emerging Markets) covers LatAm, Africa, the Middle East, South East Asia, Eastern Europe and Central Europe.
As Finance Director, you will report directly to the GM DEM and be a member of the Leadership team, acting as Business Partner to support strategy-setting and execution while ensuring full compliance and integrity across all accounting and reporting activities.
Your Role
You will be responsible for:
Commercial & Distributor Management
- Managing distributor relationships across territories, ensuring alignment on market development and portfolio plans, leading regular performance reviews and overseeing contract compliance
- Leading market assessments and business-case modelling for business-model transition initiatives, partnering with the GM on implementation; working closely with legal and compliance to design, negotiate and monitor third-party contracts
- Driving pricing strategy, margin management and channel profitability analysis, identifying value-capture opportunities and supporting commercial decisions with robust financial modelling
Financial Planning, Reporting & Control
- Overseeing end-to-end financial reporting for the DEM region — from budgeting, forecasting and revenue risk modelling to timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close — ensuring full compliance with IFRS and accurate reporting to Group Finance
- Defining and tracking the regional KPI framework and running the full performance-management rhythm — annual budget, long-range planning, monthly business reviews and quarterly reviews with the GM and Group Leadership — translating results into corrective actions
- Owning the internal control environment, coordinating internal and external audits, and remediating control deficiencies in line with Group standards
Treasury, Tax & Risk
- Managing FX exposure, cash repatriation, working capital and credit risk across emerging-market entities, partnering with Group Treasury on hedging strategies and local banking relationships
- Owning tax strategy, transfer pricing and inter-company arrangements in partnership with Group Tax; managing local tax audits and ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory requirements
- Leading enterprise risk assessment and compliance oversight, with particular focus on anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions, trade compliance and third-party due diligence
Investment & Business Development
- Appraising capital investment and major opex proposals — new-market entry, commercial investments, systems and infrastructure — with rigorous business-case evaluation and post-investment reviews
- Supporting M&A, licensing and business development activities, including target evaluation, financial due diligence and deal structuring
Operations & People
- Liaising with the supply-chain organisation on demand planning and inventory management for the cluster
- Leading, developing and coaching the DEM finance team across multiple geographies, setting performance standards and building local finance capability
Who You Are
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related discipline
- 10+ years of finance experience across distributors and emerging markets, ideally in pharma or life sciences, including multi-country leadership spanning at least two DEM sub-regions
- Hands-on P&L management with distributors and indirect channels, and at least 5 years leading remote and matrixed teams
- Audit experience and a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent) are a strong plus
- Fluency in English required; working proficiency in Italian is a plus
- Proficient in SAP, BW and Excel; working knowledge of Power BI or equivalent analytics and visualisation tools
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and ability to navigate local GAAP differences across DEM jurisdictions
- Willingness to travel internationally across the DEM footprint (estimated 25–40% of time)
